Nighthawks honored for 5th Graders' Day Out
The University of North Georgia (ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½) earned the 2022 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Connecting Communities Award. The award is presented each summer to the PBC member institution that embraces the NCAA Division II core value of community engagement, bringing the institution and the local community together.
The Nighthawks hosted a 5th Graders' Day Out in association with Lumpkin County Schools on Nov. 30. All fifth-graders from the Lumpkin County School System visited ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½'s Dahlonega Campus for a tour, lunch in the dining hall, and the men's basketball game against Toccoa Falls College. After the game, the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ men's basketball team signed autographs and thanked the community for its support.
The goal of the event was to provide the students an opportunity to visit a college campus, meet student-athletes and enjoy a collegiate athletics event.
Spring teams aim to maintain high standards
ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½'s spring sports teams are gearing up for another season competing at the highest levels both in the Peach Belt Conference and nationally.
Mental health grad assistant program starts
Two ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students in the Master of Science in counseling program are serving as mental health graduate assistants for the Athletic Department, and one is serving in the same capacity for the Corps of Cadets.

The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ women's soccer team set a program record with 18 victories before finishing its season in the second round of the NCAA Division II tournament.
Women's soccer team punches NCAA ticket
The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ women's soccer team, which has tied a program record with 17 victories, hosts Anderson at 3 p.m. Nov. 21 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
