At the heart of the program stands Frédéric Chopin, who transformed virtuosity from technical display into poetic expression. Surrounding his music are works by Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and Kapustin—composers who each, in their own language, expanded Chopin’s legacy. Liszt’s storm-like transcendence, Rachmaninoff’s symphonic intensity, and Kapustin’s jazz-infused invention all trace the continuing dialogue between mastery and imagination. Together, these pieces celebrate the piano as both a vehicle of dazzling skill and a voice of limitless emotional and stylistic range.
