Driver Responsibilities 

• All individuals registering or operating a motor vehicle on any University of North Georgia campus are responsible for knowing and complying with the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Parking Rules and Regulations.
• All students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors must have a valid parking permit to park on campus. 
• The responsibility for finding a legal parking space rests with the vehicle operator. Because ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is primarily a pedestrian campus, drivers are responsible for operating their vehicles safely and yielding to pedestrians. 

General Parking Regulations 

• Parking on campus is controlled through designated parking permits and assigned parking areas. Vehicles must be parked in the appropriate parking space and comply with all posted signs and campus regulations.  
• The speed limit on all ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ campuses is 15 MPH, and 5 MPH inside parking decks. The University assumes no responsibility for vehicles or their contents while parked or operated on university property 

Parking Enforcement 

• Parking is monitored through a virtual permit system that scans vehicle license plates. Parking Attendants issue electronic citations to registered vehicles, while unregistered or unidentifiable vehicles may receive a physical citation.  
• Parking regulations are enforced Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
• Restricted roadways are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Virtual License Plate Permits 

• Your state-issued license plate serves as your virtual parking permit and must be registered through the Parking Services Portal. Vehicles must be parked so the license plate is clearly visible from the drive lane. 
• Permit holders may register up to three vehicles under one permit; however, only one registered vehicle may be parked on campus at a time. All ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ permits are valid on every ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ campus. 

Annual Permit Registration 

• Student, faculty, and staff parking permits expire annually on July 31, with registration opening each year on August 1 through the Parking Services Portal. 
• Permit holders are responsible for keeping their vehicle information current whenever changes occur. 
• Faculty and staff permits are registered through the Parking Services Portal and remain active throughout employment.

Student Permits 

• Student parking permits are available for resident and non-resident (commuter) students. During enforcement hours, students may only park in areas designated for their assigned permit type. 
• Students may register up to three vehicles under one permit; however, only one registered vehicle may be parked on campus at any time. 

Faculty & Staff Permits  

• Faculty and staff parking permits are available through the Parking Services Portal. Faculty and staff may register up to three vehicles under one permit, but only one registered vehicle may be parked on campus at a time. 
• Permit holders are responsible for updating their parking account whenever a vehicle or license plate changes. 

Visitor Permits 

• Visitors must obtain a valid visitor permit before parking on campus. Visitor permits may be obtained through the Parking Services Portal and are intended for individuals who are not current ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students, faculty, or staff. 
• Visitor parking spaces are reserved for visitors during enforcement hours. Vehicles registered to current students or employees are not eligible for visitor status unless approved by Parking Services. 

Vendor Permits 

• Vendors conducting business on campus must register with Parking Services to obtain a vendor permit. Vendor permits allow parking in designated service vehicle spaces or approved construction areas while conducting university business. 
• Vendor permits are issued through Parking Services, may include multiple registered vehicles, and are non-refundable. 

1-Hour Parking 

• 1-Hour parking spaces are available for short-term campus business and are identified by white lines with a gray box and "1-HOUR" painted on the pavement. These spaces are available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. 
• Vehicles may not move from one 1-Hour space to another to extend the time limit. Vehicles remaining beyond the posted time limit are subject to citation. 

Future Nighthawk Parking 

• Future Nighthawk spaces are reserved for prospective students visiting campus and are identified by signage and pavement markings. 
• Faculty, staff, and current students are not authorized to park in these spaces during business hours. 

Faculty & Staff Parking 

• Faculty and Staff (F/S) parking spaces are reserved for vehicles displaying a valid Faculty & Staff permit. These spaces are identified by yellow lines with a red box and "F/S" or "24HR F/S" markings. 
• Vehicles parked without the appropriate permit are subject to citation. 

24-Hour Restricted Areas 

• Certain parking areas are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These include reserved spaces, 24-Hour Faculty & Staff spaces, disability parking, fire lanes, Veteran spaces, Purple Heart spaces, and other designated restricted areas. 
• Unauthorized vehicles parked in these locations may be cited, booted, or towed. 

Resident Student Parking 

• Resident parking permits are available to students living in on-campus housing. During enforcement hours, resident students may only park in designated resident parking areas. 
• Resident students may park in commuter parking when visiting another ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ campus. 

Non-Resident (Commuter) Parking 

• Non-resident (commuter) parking permits are available to students who do not live on campus. During enforcement hours, commuter students may only park in designated commuter parking areas. 
• Commuter students are not permitted to park in visitor parking spaces during enforcement hours. 

Visitor Parking 

• Visitor parking is reserved for individuals visiting the university who are not current students, faculty, or staff. Visitors must obtain a valid visitor permit before parking on campus. 
• Visitor spaces are designated by pavement markings and signage and are enforced during normal enforcement hours. 

Reserved Parking Spaces  

• Reserved parking spaces are designated for specific individuals, departments, or university purposes. These spaces include reserved, numbered, and other restricted parking areas identified by signage or pavement markings. 
• Unauthorized vehicles parked in reserved spaces are subject to citation and may be towed. 

ADA Accessible Parking  

• ADA parking spaces are reserved for vehicles displaying a valid state-issued disability license plate or placard. ADA permits must also be registered with Parking Services. 
• Vehicles parked in ADA spaces or access aisles without proper authorization are subject to citation. 

Electric Vehicle Charging  

• Electric vehicle charging spaces are available on select ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ campuses and are identified by green pavement markings. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
• Vehicles may only occupy an EV charging space while actively charging. 

Motorcycle & Moped Parking  

• Motorcycles and mopeds may be registered under a ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ parking permit and must park in designated motorcycle parking spaces. 
• Motorcycles and mopeds are not permitted to park in standard vehicle parking spaces. 

Oversized Vehicle Parking  

• Oversized vehicle parking spaces are designated for vehicles exceeding twenty-two (22) feet in length or eighty-four (84) inches in height. 
• These spaces are available in select parking lots for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. 

Compact Vehicle Parking  

• Compact vehicle spaces are reserved for vehicles approximately thirteen (13) to fifteen (15) feet in length and are located throughout campus. 
• Vehicles that exceed the designated size may be cited for parking in a compact space. 

Campus Police Parking  

• Campus Police parking spaces are reserved for authorized police vehicles and are identified by signage and pavement markings. 
• These spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Clinic & Patient Parking  

• Clinic parking is reserved for patients of the Health and Natural Science Physical Therapy Clinic. Patient parking is also available for students receiving services through Student Health Services. 
• These spaces are clearly identified by signage and are reserved for authorized patients only. 

Student Veteran & Purple Heart Parking  

• Student Veteran parking spaces are reserved for student veterans attending ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. Purple Heart parking spaces are reserved for campus community members who have been awarded the Purple Heart while serving our nation. 
• These reserved spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Rental Fleet Vehicles 

• Rental Fleet parking spaces are reserved exclusively for official ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Fleet vehicles. 
• Unauthorized vehicles are not permitted to park in these designated spaces. 

Service Vehicles  

• Service Vehicle parking spaces are reserved for authorized service vehicles and vendors displaying the appropriate permit. 
• These spaces support university operations and should only be used while conducting official business.  

Resident Life Coordinator (RLC) Parking  

• Resident Life Coordinator (RLC) parking spaces are reserved for authorized Resident Life Coordinators who have registered for an RLC permit through Parking Services. 
• These spaces are designated by pavement markings and are reserved for authorized permit holders. 

Observer Mentor Trainer (OMT) Parking  

• Observer Mentor Trainer (OMT) parking spaces are reserved for authorized OMT personnel who have registered through Parking Services. 
• These spaces are designated by pavement markings and are enforced for authorized users only. 

Event Parking  

• Parking for campus events, camps, and conferences is coordinated through Parking Services. Event parking requests should be submitted in advance and are based on space availability. 
• During special events, designated parking areas may be reserved for event guests, and vehicles remaining in restricted areas may be cited or towed. 

Abandoned Vehicles 

• Vehicles left on campus for more than 30 days without being moved may be considered abandoned and are subject to towing at the owner's expense. 
• Parking Services may make exceptions on an individual basis when requested by the vehicle owner. 

Temporary & Loaner Vehicles 

• If you are temporarily driving a loaner or rental vehicle, you must add the vehicle to your parking account through the Parking Services Portal before parking on campus. 
• Temporary vehicles should be removed from your account once they are no longer in use. 

License Plate Visibility 

• ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ uses license plate recognition technology to verify parking permits. Vehicles must be parked so that a valid state-issued license plate or temporary registration is clearly visible from the drive lane. 
• Drivers who wish to back into a straight parking space may purchase a registered Nighthawk front license plate through Card/Parking Services. 

Restricted Roadways (Drill Field) 

• Restricted roadways, including the Drill Field, are reserved for pedestrians, service vehicles, and ADA-authorized vehicles. These areas are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 
• Unauthorized vehicles traveling through restricted roadways are subject to citation.
